I suppose we no longer have head injuries to use as an excuse not to skate board, but perhaps hangnails. Check out this Hermes ad featuring fingerboarding. LINK

Esquivel
You may not guess that watching shoes being made would be all that interesting, but this is way cool. The soundtrack is the sounds of all of the tools being used, put together in a good rhythm. And the video is beautiful too. I just wish it were a little longer. LINK

Seaweed and Forest :: Tell No One
At 25 seconds, these may be the shortest videos I've ever linked to. Referred to as "experiments" by the artist, Seaweed and Forest use video editing to create new forms from simple hand and arm movements.

Bird-Shoe-Houses :: Christian Bermudez
This idea for birdhouses is pretty clever. And I can't help put think that being suspended on wires is also a great way to avoid predators such as snakes! Unfortunately, like most art installations, it has now been dismantled. But there is nothing stopping you from creating your own! Read about it and see more pictures of this project over at the iGreenSpot site. LINK
Or visit the artist's blog directly and track the progress of the installation and the birds who called it home for a season in posts from the summer of 2011. LINK

Fingerings :: Judith Ann Braun
Artist Judith Ann Braun creates all sorts of projects but is included here for what she call "fingerings". Though they aren't all that impressive at first glance, I have to remind myself that what appears to be really simple at first, actually takes some practice to do well. Her website is a bit of a pain to navigate as well so you'll have to go to art, then find the fingerings group. LINK

Les Souliers :: Arno Fabre
Though I certainly wouldn't want to work in the gallery all day as this installation piece stomped away, I do have to give points for an original idea. I can imagine that it was quite thrilling to put together the selection of shoes too. Watch it for yourself over on vimeo. LINK

V Water :: Jenn and Sara
This fun animation incorporates the animator as a character, making an impact on the hand-drawn character's progress through the day. Short and originally created as a viral video to advertise v water, it is a pleasant little diversion. LINK
